Sorry I have not written sooner, but work has been busy and at the end of the day i have no energy. This week was tough and I am sick so that is not helping. i have my green juice!

So Chapter 2 is really about getting to know what your body needs and how to go about that the raw way. What i remember most about chapter 2 is calorie density and that you can pretty much eat as many vegetables as you want and have the calories you need. You cant do that with cooked foods and junk foods. There is also a section on what foods and drinks to avoid.

I love coffee and do not tend to cut that out of my life, i am also a social drinker and I have been a little more conscious on what beers and wines I am drinking.

Chapter 3 is about nutrients, ways to get protein the raw and vegan way. Eat a rainbow of vegetables and fruits and you will have most of the nutrients that you need. Vitamin B12 is something everyone needs, it is great to take a supplement. i want to find a gummy. i cannot take any type of vitamin without vomiting for some reason. Get enough sunshine as well. Fermenting is also great! Probiotics are a great think to have in your body.

I am going into part 2 now in the Raw Food For Dummies Book and I am excited to keep learning! My goal is not be sick. Lots of veggies, green juice and water….ok I am ignoring water right now, but I am trying.

This weekend I was going to cuddle in bed with a couple books. I had planned that. There are new students here! I spaced it. I am really happy we have a bunch of brand new students here at Living Light! So Saturday I was up in the marketplace helping out with getting their little kits put together and such. That night I did get to ready the intro and part of chapter one.

So I have been at Living Light for almost a year (in March wow!) and I have learned so much I cant even express it. This book is teaching me new things though. When you first start reading you can feel the love and warmth that went into this book and it is not some feeling that you are preparing to get bashed for the way you eat at all. I know that dummies itself is a brand, but if I got to name the book it would be “Raw Food For The Average Person.” I myself do not get offended by the name at all, but I know some people do.

So the intro to this book lets you know what comes ahead in the following chapters. it also lets you know what to skip if need be. When the book was written they wrote it think of you and me, not as some already pro raw foodist. That eased my tension.

Chapter one Raw Food 101. This chapter is pretty much verifying what raw food is and what the benefits are, also the damage that heating food does to the nutrients and such. You really have to have the idea in your head that raw food is not some fad, like Atkins, or any of those diets. It is a lifestyle, a life changer if you will. You have to think about how raw you want to be. what I loved about this was that you are not being told to drop everything a be %100 raw. You have to pay attention to how you feel, and what your body is telling you. Going outside the book really quick; to be not one body is the same, no one should tell you exactly what he/she thinks you should eat just because it worked for them. Your body is the only thing that can tell you that. Back to chapter one. what i gained from this section is that the more raw food you eat the better you will feel. I totally agree with that. You leanr about  raw friendly restaurants too.

Trust me I could have written a couple pages about these chapters, but the book is out there to buy. So if you want to learn more about it or actually buy a signed copy (available only at living light)  here is a link

ImageRecently a new book has come out in the Raw Food World. Raw Food For Dummies!! By the amazing women and her husband that run Living Light Cherie Soria and Dan Ladermann. I have been waiting to get my hands on a copy. I am not new to the raw food world, but I can be a dummie at times 😉 Just skimming through the book I can tell this is a great book for beginners as well as people that have been having this lifestyle for a while. I am really excited to read it chapter by chapter. It also includes over 100 recipes covering breakfast, lunch, dinner, appetizers, and snacks.

We sell them here at Living Light, and we are the only place to get a signed copy as well. Amazon also sells this book as well.
